About Us

Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital, formerly known as Thinadhoo Regional Hospital, has been a cornerstone of healthcare in the Maldives for over 55 years. Established initially in 1969 as Thinadhoo Regional Hospital, it has grown from a small regional facility into a fully equipped hospital offering modern medical services to the communities of G.A. and G.Dh Atoll.

In 2024, the Cabinet of the Maldives recommended renaming the hospital to honor the late Dr. Abdul Samad Abdulla, former Foreign Minister of the Maldives. Dr. Abdul Samad was a key figure in the development of the nation’s healthcare sector. The renaming serves as a lasting tribute to his dedication and contributions to the Maldivian health sector. A special scholarship has also been established in his name to support future healthcare professionals.
